- You want evidence that student discounts would benefit Newtek?
- I will shortly be buying 3D Studios at student discount. If Newtek offered a
- suitable student discount, I would buy Lightwave instead. Simple as that, cut
- and dried. Lightwave makes extra revenue the discount way in this particular
- case. Furthermore, I cannot see a situation which would occur at a high enough
- frequency, with an opposite effect on NewTeks revenue, to cancel this immediate
- benefit. (Claiming companies will
- get students to buy their software for them doesn't cut it for me - companies
- purchase the product to get a license to use it, the company that buys student
- discount software is, in the absence of the discount, more likely to pirate (if
- able) than to pay, as they are obvously don't care about license.)
- Furthermore, when in the workforce, my preference will be for software I can
- operate the best (not always software that has the latest gizmo's and
- whatzsits as you suggest), leading to fringe benefits if ever asked what
- software I would prefer to upgrade to.
-
- I am the extra revenue Newtek would make, my situation is hardly unique, and I
- think you'll be hard pressed to supply even a possible means of student
- working against Newtek.

-
- Loyalty has nothing to do with it, substitue "Loyalty" with "hard-earned
- expertise that I am reluctant to throw away" and you get a completely different
- answer.
-
- And yes, my number one concern with Newtel offering studend discount is me, and
- how it will affect my pocket. Using that as an excuse to ignore the argument I
- put forward will not counter the argument.

- (BTW, if this sounds like a flame, it isn't, I'm just being extremely blunt :)
